Spanish and German at negotiations, training sessions, plant visits and staff meetings. Simultaneous or consecutive, on site anywhere in Germany or by video link.
When an interpreter makes the difference
Many conversations between German and Spanish companies take place in English, and often that is enough. As soon as contract details, technical acceptance, safety briefings or personnel matters are on the table, every imprecision costs time or money. That is when it pays for both sides to speak their own language and let an interpreter handle the rest.
I have interpreted for industrial companies, law firms and public authorities for more than twenty years. As a lawyer I know the language of contracts; as a specialised translator, the terminology of machinery, energy, automotive and pharma.
Formats
-
Negotiations and meetings
Consecutive or whispered interpreting for small groups: contract negotiations, supplier meetings, shareholder meetings, due diligence sessions.
-
Training and plant visits
Technical briefings, audits and tours of the production floor. With a portable tour-guide system, audible even over machine noise.
-
Staff meetings and conferences
Simultaneous interpreting from the booth for works meetings, sales conventions and conferences. For assignments of more than an hour I work in a team with a colleague.
-
Video and telephone
Interpreting via Teams, Zoom or telephone for short-notice coordination calls and conversations with sites in Spain or Latin America.
-
Notarial appointments and contract signings
As a sworn interpreter I accompany Spanish-speaking business partners to the notary in Germany: company formations, property purchases, powers of attorney.
How I prepare an assignment
A good interpreting assignment starts before the appointment. Send me what you have: agenda, presentations, draft contracts, in-house glossaries or earlier minutes. I work through your terminology so that nothing needs explaining on the day.
- All documents are treated in confidence; on request I sign your non-disclosure agreement.
- Equipment such as a booth or a portable system is agreed in advance.
- For longer simultaneous assignments I put the interpreting team together.
- For appointments throughout Germany and abroad I plan the travel.
In brief
- Simultaneous or consecutive?
- Consecutive means the speaker talks and I render it afterwards; that suits meetings and negotiations. Simultaneous means I render it at the same time, from a booth or with a portable system; that suits assemblies and presentations where time is short.
- How much notice do you need?
- The earlier you ask, the better I can prepare. A meeting can be arranged at shorter notice than a conference with booth and team. Ask even at short notice; something can often be arranged.
- What does an interpreting assignment cost?
- That depends on duration, format and venue. You receive a fixed-price quote in advance, usually within 24 hours.
