German-Spanish Sworn Interpreter in Leipzig
A sworn interpreter is a professional who has taken a general oath before a German Higher Regional Court and is authorised to interpret before courts, public prosecutors, notaries, public authorities and the police. I am a sworn interpreter for Spanish at the OLG Dresden — since 2011 — working since 2005 in exactly these contexts.
What is a sworn interpreter in Germany?
With the Federal Court Interpreters Act (GDolmG) in force since 1 January 2023, sworn status has been placed on a uniform federal footing. Oaths taken under the previous state law, such as mine at the OLG Dresden, remain valid under § 189 (2) GVG until 31 December 2026.

More than 700 days as an interpreter in BAMF proceedings. Initial and follow-up applications, revocation proceedings.
Police and public authorities
Police interviews, hearings before the foreigners’ office, social welfare appointments.
Civil registry
Wedding ceremonies and formal declarations before the registrar.
Private companies
Works meetings, Town Halls, training sessions, contract negotiations, audits with Spanish-speaking participants.

Consecutive interpreting
Speaker speaks, interpreter then renders. No equipment required. For notarial appointments, examinations and hearings.
Simultaneous interpreting
Real-time from a booth. For conferences and training sessions.
Liaison interpreting
Whispered for up to two listeners. For bilateral meetings and on-site appointments.
Fees and invoicing
For public authority and court assignments: JVEG rates. For private assignments: daily or half-day flat fee plus travel costs and VAT.

Is your sworn status valid throughout Germany?
Yes. The oath at the OLG Dresden is valid across the entire federal territory.
How far in advance do I need to book?
The earlier the better. For short-notice assignments, please call me directly.
What about court appointment?
I am familiar with the Beiordnung procedure and JVEG-based invoicing.
Do you travel outside Saxony?
Yes. Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia regularly; across Germany on request.
