Translation for Outdoor and Mountain Sports Brands German → Spanish
Outdoor and mountain sports communication only works when the language comes from the sport itself. Translate “Sicherungsgerät” word for word without knowing that Spanish-speaking climbers say “aseguradora” and you’ve lost the reader in the first sentence. I translate for outdoor and climbing equipment manufacturers, mountain sports media and brands — from German, English and French into Spanish. Among my regular clients are companies such as Edelrid (Isny), for whom I translate product communication, subtitles and brand content for the Spanish-speaking market.
A sector with its own language
Climbing, mountaineering, ski touring, trail running, bouldering and via ferrata have developed their own vocabulary in Spain and Latin America that doesn’t emerge from word-for-word translation. Regional differences between European and Latin American Spanish add further complexity.
What I translate
- Product descriptions and online shop content for climbing and outdoor gear
- User manuals and safety information for PPE (EU Regulation 2016/425)
- Subtitles and voice-over scripts for corporate, product and sports videos
- Brand websites and landing pages
- Catalogues, brochures and magazine articles
- Training materials for distributors and athletes
What you get from me
- Real terminology from the sport, not from the dictionary
- Regional adaptation to European Spanish or to a specific Latin American variant
- Consistent brand voice through client-specific glossaries and style guides
- Experience with mandatory PPE information (EN 12277, EN 892, EN 565)
